I believe that my wearing this jersey was part of the reason the Detroit Red Wings annihilated the Phoenix Coyotes last night ~ my hubby also wore his Wings practice jersey, so I'll give him some credit as well.  I know Steve Yzerman no longer plays for the Wings, but he's still a big part of the organization and he's always been a huge inspiration for the team.  Great guy!

4-27 Wing pennant I always drag this little pennant out when the Wings are in the playoffs.  Tonight is game 7 of the first round against Phoenix ~ hope it brings them some LOTS of luck!

4-26 Tide ChartMy husband’s bible :)  Because he walks the beach almost every morning, the monthly tide chart usually lets him know approximately what time the beach is going to be good for walking.  Low tide = good ~ high tide = not so much!

4-25 Storm Troopers
It’s not every day we get to see Storm Troopers roaming around Hammond Stadium.  There were about 6 of these guys at the ball game tonight ~ I have no idea why?  Maybe just photo ops for kids?

4-24 Lucky Bamboo
I had a dollar left over to spend at Flamingo Island Flea market, so I picked up this little bamboo stalk.  Hope it survives ~ I’ve heard bamboo is supposed to be “lucky”  :)

4-23 Mug
I got this Traci Porter mug as a gift a long time ago when I was working and it’s still one of my favorites.  Back then it was my “morning coffee” (actually all-day coffee) mug.  I still use it on occasion, but now it’s an “evening Ovaltine” mug.

Layout 17 ~ First Quack

First Quack
I did this layout for a Speed Scrap at Gotta Pixel last night, so it was a quick one.  But I love the photo of Maya holding that duck and I wanted to use it.

We have a shopping/restaurant area nearby called Coconut Point  which has a BIG pond and they have a family of swans that I’ll see every once in a while.  There were two black swans sunning themselves today, so I managed to snap a picture of one of them before I had to leave.  They also have white swans there sometimes, but I haven’t been lucky enough to get their picture.  Someday …

IMG_1956_2352 These are the tiny new members of Kelli’s household ~ 3 baby ducks and 6 baby chicks.  I love the way they’re all huddled together in their little (temporary) box.

Nothing like an all-natural smoothie to get a lot of fruit in your system!  Today’s consisted of one apple, one orange, a quart of strawberries and a splash of cranberry juice.  Oh and a little flax mixed in.   I love these!

Walking on the beach is always interesting ~ I saw this big guy out for a stroll.  I’m still surprised how these birds are totally comfortable being around people.

Layout 16 ~ Little Miss Major

SS2_Challenge4 copy
This is another layout I did for the Scrapping Survivor challenge.  This week we had to make a large photo blend into the background ~ first time I’ve ever tried that.  The challenge also required the use of 2 camouflage papers.  I’m pretty happy with the way it came out ~  I hope Kelli and Maya like it :)

4-16 Dan's hibiscus
Are you getting tired of flowers yet?  This little hibiscus tree in back of our neighbor’s is just so beautiful with all those pink blooms, I had to take its picture.

We have a tree out in front that is full of these clusters of little yellow flowers.  Just gorgeous!  Could be a tabebuia?  Not sure …

Layout 15 ~ I Love O’s

SS2 - Challenge 3 copy
Funny.  I’m in this contest called Scrapping Survivor and the challenge for last week was to do a layout about what you’d miss if you were stranded on that darn island.  Here’s my take on that …  although my first thought was chocolate :)

Lulu’s got a brand new bag :)  Just finished this one today.  Now the decision is whether to keep it or try and sell it.  I LOVE the plaid, but it really doesn’t go with anything down here.  It looks more like a Michigan purse than a Florida purse, so I think I’ll try putting it in the shop and see if anyone else likes it.  Decision made.

4-12 Cindy's buttons
My good friend Cindy made me some really cool and colorful buttons to put on some purses I’ll be making. Love them!

4-11 Snickers
See this bowl of miniature Snickers?  This is what I’m faced with every time I go to Mom & Dad’s.  Constant temptation ~ and my Mom tosses one of these over to me every time I turn around.  I’m trying to lose 10 pounds ~ this is NOT helping!

4-10 Mousepad redo
I’ve had a mousepad for at least 4 years that I loved ~ it was tropical and said “A bad day at the beach is better than a good day at work” (or something like that).  I hated to get rid of it, but after 4 years it was looking a little really grungy.  So I gave it a facelift with some fabric I had in my stash.  I must say it looks a lot happier :)

4-9 New tree
We have a new tree in our front “yard” ~ it’s filled with these little red blooms.  Not sure what it is yet, but I’ll update as soon as I find out.

4-8 New bloom
We have a few hibiscus bushes near our mailbox that took a beating with the unusually cold winter we had.  Thank goodness they came back to life because now it’s blooming like crazy.  Love the color!

So long, old friend.  I’ve had this phone for 2 years ~ it’s been good to me, but I wanted a few more bells and whistles.  Off to eBay it goes to hopefully make someone else’s life a little better :)

4-5 New towels My mom learned to crochet when she was 10 ~ and never stopped.  It’s a good thing, too, because it really gives her something to do besides sit and watch TV with my dad :)  She’s given me lots of crocheted hanging kitchen towels through the years, but I think these are my favorites!  Thanks, Mom!

ship_bridge I actually took pics of the Big M Casino boat we went on today, but for some reason I lost them somewhere on my phone.  So I’m pretending this is my photo of the day :)   It was a perfect day for a boat ride ~ the gulf was pretty smooth and the weather was beautiful.
